WIRAC gym team battles experts

THE pressure is on for WIRAC staff as an eager team of its gym members throws down the gauntlet and challenges experts in the upcoming Warwick Pentath-run to see who can finish first.

Eddie and Melissa Cole will be joined by Clodagh Sinnott, Rebecca Hitzke and Dimity Brackin in the member's team for the May 21 and 22 event.

The professionals insist they aren't making any excuses, but they've had to make a few last-minute changes.

Their team will now consist of Marcus Loscher, Arthur Wentworth-Fisher, Karen Peters, Rebecca Horne and Brendan Iles.

Cole said he had no problem being in an all-girls team and he was confident that, with some tough training, the members could really give WIRAC staffers a run for their money.

While the staff team had to change things up, the member's team has been looking strong from day dot.

All five participants have been focused and prepared for their chosen event.

The Warwick Pentath-run is strategically organised six weeks before the Gold Coast Marathon.

Run over two days, there are five races with a 42.2km distance covered in total.

On Saturday the first off the mark will run the big 21.1km leg from Warwick to Yangan.

There will be a 4.6km and a 5km too.

On Sunday there will be a 10km ascent and a 1500m run.

Money raised from the Pentath-run is distributed among local community causes.

There will be an award dinner at WIRAC on the Saturday night, which will include entertainment.

So head along to cheer on all participants.

The WIRAC crew will be kitted out in white singlets.
