Team makes difference
THERE are now eight young ambassadors and four young delegates in the Southern Downs working to address the issues and needs of young people within the region.
Bianca Fitch has been a young ambassador in Warwick for the past three years.
"We help the community out in all different ways," she said.
"We organise events and projects for the youth of the Southern Downs as well as advocating for the youth."
Ms Fitch said one of the best parts of being involved was meeting different people.
Her brother Jacob joined the program this year.
"It is good fun," he said.
"We get to help out with all the projects."
Youth development officer Hailey Cosh said it was a great way for youngsters to learn new skills.
"You learn leadership and time management skills," she said.
Applications for the 2013 Young Ambassadors and Young Delegates Program are being accepted until October 10.
If you are an enthusiastic person aged between 15 and 25 years old and live in the Southern Downs you are eligible to apply.
Ms Cosh said the council was hoping to get applications from towns such as Allora and Killarney this year.
If you are interested in applying, phone Hailey Cosh on 4661 7166.
Applications are available from the Southern Downs Regional Council website at southerndowns.qld.gov.au in the youth zone section.
