Teen dedicated to charity, community in Warwick
AUSTRALIA Day Junior Citizen Award winner Millie Hauff has been commended for her contributions to the community.
Master of ceremonies Cr Neil Meiklejohn said Millie had demonstrated a maturity beyond her 15 years.
"This award recognises Millie's considerable dedication and service to community," he said.
"Millie embodies the character of a great young citizen - she is community minded, enjoys participating in a range of sports and has a passion for volunteering for the betterment of others in the community."
Cr Meiklejohn said Millie was an active member of several community and sporting groups and commended her on her commitment to others.
"A strong hope that a cure for cancer will be found has driven Millie to help establish and serve enthusiastically on the committee of the Warwick/Southern Downs Relay for Life ," he said.
"She is also a keen fundraiser for the local Cancer Council Queensland branch in Warwick."
Cr Meiklejohn said Millie's passion for volunteering and animals were strong attributes.
"Millie's selflessness, dedication, enthusiasm and community spirit render her an excellent role model for young people and she is a most deserving recipient of the Junior Citizen Award for 2016," he said.
