Teen girls 'inappropriately touched' at Milne Bay

UPDATE: Police are investigating after two teenage girls were inappropriately touched at Toowoomba's Milne Bay Aquatic Centre on Saturday.

The man, described as Caucasian with a solid build estimated to be aged in his 30s with a bald head, arrived at the pool with two children about 11.55am.

Sometime between midday and 3.15pm, two girls, aged 14 and 15, allege they were approached and touched by the man repeatedly.

Darling Downs Detective Inspector Dave Isherwood said police were calling for anyone who may have seen the man at the pool to come forward.

Det. Insp. Isherwood said the girls had reported the incident to pool security and the man was asked to leave at 3.20pm.

"If anyone has been touched in a way they believe is inappropriate, they should report it to security immediately, and should not delay in reporting it to police," he said.

It is understood some time passed between the two teenage girls left the pool and the matter being reported to police.

The pool is popular with families in summer months, and any persons who feel they have been inappropriately touched or violated by a stranger should not hesitate in reporting it to authorities.

He said the incident which the girls reported to police was serious and "highly inappropriate".

"Bring the matter to the attention of authorities and insist that police be contacted," Det. Insp. Isherwood said.

He said police were appealing to the public for information due to the seriousness of the offence.

"Don't ever delay in reporting this to police," he said.

It happened in the outdoor pool of the centre, which is located on Herries St.

The man is described as Caucasian in appearance, of solid build, aged in his 30s with a bald head.

He was wearing board shorts with blue or grey squares and may have an accent.

Police are appealing for witnesses, or anyone who recognises the man, to come forward.
