Teen out to tune The Voice for battle
MACKAY teen Aaliyah Warren will need to embrace her competitive side to make it through the next round of The Voice.
The 17-year-old will go up against fellow Team Jessie singer Brianna Holm in a sing-off in the final night of the reality singing show's battles tomorrow.
"Brianna and I are not completely shy but we're also not the most outgoing people, so it was nice to be around someone who's the same as me," Ms Warren told the Mercury.
"There are a lot of big personalities on our team."
She and Ms Holm will sing a duet with coach Jessie J only able to keep one of them for Monday's super battle.
"I just want to go in there and do a performance I'm proud of and push through the nerves," Ms Warren said. "But it is a bit daunting standing right next to the person you're competing against."
The singer Jessie J doesn't pick will have the chance to be saved by one of the other coaches.
Ms Warren, who appeared on The X Factor three years ago, said win or lose she had already gained confidence from her time on the show.
"Jessie has helped with my confidence and a lot of areas in my singing," she said.
"And it's helped me be more open to different things. I don't have a set plan of what kind of artist I want to be, but I definitely know I want to get a lot of experience. I have full confidence and faith everything's going to work out."
She has also felt support from her hometown and The Voice's wider viewership.
"I've had a lot of people supporting me on social media, which has been cool," she said.
"And I've had a few people come up and recognise me from the show."
The Voice airs tomorrow at 7pm on WIN.
