Teenager racks up fine after lamb theft

A WARWICK woman put rack of lamb in her bag, before leaving Westside Foodworks a court has heard.

Tamika Lee Mckay pleaded guilty to leaving without paying for the lamb while fronting Warwick Magistrates Court today.

The court heard the Warwick teen went to the Foodworks with her boygriend on November 29, eyed off the lamb, put it in her bag and left.

Police saw her take the $17 rack on CCTV footage, and later charged her for shoplifting.

Magistrate Bevan Manthey said the woman was lucky not to be charged with the more serious crime of stealing.

"Next time, they may well charge you with stealing, and that brings jail time," he said.

She was fined $50 and ordered to pay the $17.02 for the lamb rack.
