Teen flown to Brisbane after wheelie bin cannon backfires

UPDATE: A 17 year old boy who was burnt after making a cannon from a wheelie bin has been flown to Brisbane for treatment. 

EARLIER: A 17 year old suffered burns to his arm, face and neck after a homemade cannon backfired. 

Queensland Ambulance Service Senior Operations Supervisor Michael Low said the teenager was making the cannon out of a wheelie bin when it exploded.

It is believed the teenager was taken to hospital with minor burns.

The incident happened at a property in Bundaberg South around midnight Thursday.
