Temperature to drop a little

IT FELT like summer had come early with sunny skies and high temperatures at the weekend and locals lapped up the lovely weather.

Bureau of Meteorology forecaster Rick Threlfall said Warwick had a warmer than expected weekend.

"Last Friday got up to 26 and Saturday had a top of 27," he said.

"Which is about two or three degrees above average for this time of year, and that's because the winds are coming from the north which is a warmer direction."

Local girls Elouise Greene and Kaylina Ferris took to the aquatic centre to cool off.

Elouise said she liked getting in her pink togs and Kaylina said she had fun and loved the sunshine.

Mr Threlfall said despite the warmer weekend, temperatures were expected to drop to a few degrees below average today - hitting a top of about 23 degrees - but the sky should remain clear until later in the week.

"It should be fine basically Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday but then a band from the east will bring thundery rain on Thursday," he said.

Mr Threlfall said Warwick had 2.6mm of rain overnight Saturday with a few lingering showers to the east.
