Ten-man side scores try against 13 in the BRL

RUGBY LEAGUE: Inglewood scored a 66-8 win against Killarney in the final Border Rugby League fixture game of the season.

Both BRL games were played at Inglewood on Saturday in the last of four double headers.

Ian Brown and Clayton Frank scored tries for Killarney.

Cutters co-coach Ray Wagner said Roosters half Brent "Bronco” Osborne led the way for Inglewood.

"Bronc played his usual strong game and we couldn't match it with them for the whole 80 minutes,” Wagner said.

Killarney started with game with the bare 13 before losing prop Jakob Hoffman with broken ribs and centre Ian Brown with an ankle injury. A third player had to leave early due to work commitments which left the Cutters with 10 players for the final 15 minutes.

"Inglewood put 90 points on Stanthorpe last weekend at Killarney so I was pretty happy that we only conceded 66 points against the same team considering we finished the game with 10 players.

"Winger Clayton Frank scored a try for Killarney when we only had 10, this showed that the boys who turned up really dug deep.”

Killarney travels to Tenterfield on Saturday for the BRL semi final against the Tigers with the winner to play Inglewood in the grand final on Saturday week at Inglewood.

Wagner said he was hoping to hear from all players about their availability for the semi.

"I expect all those who played against Inglewood will be at the semi except Jakob Hoffman who is unlikely to be fit after his rib injury,” he said.

"I urge all our other players to ring me about their availability, we need to take a squad of 20 to Tenterfield.”

In the early game on Saturday, Tenterfield beat Stanthorpe 52-26 in a much improved performance by Stanthorpe. The win was good news for Tenterfield in the run-up to the finals after losses to Inglewood and Killarney in the previous two weeks.

Even thought they were going to miss the finals, Stanthorpe turned up with a number of players on the bench for their final game of the season to show there will be plenty of enthusiasm for 2018.

The Inglewood team is raging favourites for the grand final at the Macintyre Sports Complex on August 26 when the spirit to the Roosters will be to the fore with a large home ground crowd.
