Ten sports among monthly sports star winners

SPORTS STAR AWARDS: Ten sports will be represented in the list of monthly winners at the Daily News/Warwick Credit Union Senior Sports Star of the Year dinner on March 20.

The dinner will be at Kings at the Warwick RSL Club and incorporate both the annual senior sports star awards for 2016 and the announcement of the Warwick RSL Memorial Club "Club” Person of the Year.

The overall winner will receive a $1000 cheque from the Warwick Credit Union.

The RSL award will recognise top performances by the monthly winners at a local level and volunteer work in the 2016 year. The winner will receive $500 from the RSL. Trophies will also be presented to each of the monthly winners.

The night is a chance to pay tribute to 11 outstanding sports achievers from the Warwick, Killarney, Allora, Inglewood, Texas and Clifton areas. Senior awards cover sports stars, 18 and over.

It is hoped the night will be supported by family, friends and representatives of the sports of the winners.

Down the years, groups of up to 30 have supported the monthly winners at the annual awards night.

Tickets for the dinner and awards night are on sale at the Daily News, 50 Albion St, Warwick.

Cost is $35 adults, $28 children at secondary schools and $15 for children at primary school.
