Zane Tetevano sacked by Manly after pleading guilty

MANLY forward Zane Tetevano (pictured) has had his contract terminated immediately, after he admitted to beating his girlfriend.

Tetevano pleaded guilty to eight charges in Newcastle Local Court last week, including two counts of common assault and two counts of assault occasioning actual bodily harm.

The 24-year-old was under the influence of alcohol.

The Sea Eagles have been assisting him in his rehabilitation.

But given the severity of the offence, it is unlikely the NRL will register another contract for him.

Tetevano played 29 games for the Newcastle Knights after making his first-grade debut in 2011, but he was sacked in May after he was convicted and fined $440 for smashing the windscreen of a taxi.

He moved to the Sea Eagles on a one-year deal in the pre-season, before the latest court developments.
