Thanks to all helpers

WE are now well and truly on the home stretch towards the end of winter sporting events in the region and further afield and the warm weather is here once again.

This weekend we have finals across a range of sports and a lot of local pride - along with the inevitable bragging rights - is on the line and up for grabs.

Likewise this weekend sees a number of sporting break-ups and club presentation gatherings.

It's that time of year where those who give up their time and energy to volunteer in our community sporting groups are recognised for their efforts throughout this season.

This includes volunteer coaches, runners, first aiders, canteen workers, administrators and others who are helping to run and grow our clubs at junior and senior levels.

Typically they seek no reward or fanfare and at times cop flak from those who are keen to be critical but not so keen to get involved.

A big well done to all our volunteers for a successful 2013 winter sports season.
