Pet owners seek the perfect paw-trait of furry friends

WORKING with animals is a breeze for the team at Brassall Vet Surgery which is why they've opened their very own pet photography studio.

Practice manager Michele McDougall said pet glamour shots were in high demand as people sought the perfect paw-trait of their furry friends.

"For some people, their pets are their children," she said.

"You put photo of your children on your wall, so why not put photos of your pets up their as well?"

Ms McDougall and vet nurse Tara Goulter, who is also a professional photographer, came up with the idea when they realised that it wasn't just babies people wanted to photograph - but their beloved pets too.

"It's something different for a vet surgery," Ms Goulter said.

And there is a market for it too - dozens of studios in Brisbane and on the Gold Coast specialise exclusively in animal photography.

"We're finding life is so expensive, so people are keeping pets rather than having kids," she said. "We see a lot of older people get a pet once their kids move out of home too."

Ms Goulter said the Petz PawTretz service was not limited to cats and dogs. Pet cockatoos and bearded dragons had also been photographed in their in-house studio.

"You've got to have a lot of patience, but it's lot of fun," Ms Goulter said.

Pet owners are invited to bring their own props or let the Petz PawTretz team work their magic.

"There are packages to suit any budget," Ms McDougall said.

People can even treat their four-legged friend to a a deluxe pamper package, including a clip, wash and blow dry before the shoot.
