Diehards too strong

THE finals-bound Wattles reserve-grade side went down 32-22 to Dalby in its final fixture game on Sunday.

The score was locked at 12-all at halftime. Anthony McIntosh, Josh McIntosh, Jim Johnston and Jeff Nielson scored the Warriors’ tries, Anthony McIntosh was successful with three goals.

Josh McIntosh finished with Wattles Players’ Player and Player of the Match honours, while back-rower Sam Fuller and halfback Jordan Henry were also credible performers.

Regardless of the loss, Wattles finished fourth on the reserve-grade ladder and will contest the TRL finals series from this weekend.

A little more success with goal kicking on Sunday and Wattles’ Under-18 side may well have finished the season with a win.

Dalby snatched the premiership points 30-28, despite Wattles touching down for six tries. The Diehards led 20-10 at the break before Wattles, with only 12 players, embarked on a spirited comeback.

Try scorers: Anthony McIntosh, Tim Sharpe, Alex Morris, Matt Perry, Josh Henry and Brandon Cubby, while Anthony McIntosh kicked two goals.

Coach Wally McIntosh nominated all 12 players for best player honours.

In A grade, Wattles went down 33-18.
