Glam guide for Warwick Cup

HEELS, hats, dresses and all things beauty will be on the minds of chic Warwick women over the next two weeks.

The countdown to the Warwick Cup's highly contested Fashions on the Field competition has begun and stylish women and their dapper partners have begun preparations.

Warwick Showgirl Katie Kinlyside and Coachman's Inn owner Karen Bradshaw have been enlisted as judges and have spilled a few pointers for local fashionistas.

The ladies recommend women accessorise with a sturdy heel and said wedges were making a comeback.

Miss Bradshaw has warned against hats made of a heavy material such as felt, and said spring racegoers should opt for a light straw hat.

Men are urged to be well-groomed and to pay attention to the finer details, such as a handkerchief in the pocket.

And there are "no-nos".

"Shoes in hand - that's a deal breaker but a definite bonus is a great smile," Miss Bradshaw said.

A total of $5000 is up for grabs this year, making it more alluring than ever.

"It's the event of the year and certainly not one to be missed out on," Ms Bradshaw said. "The prizes are fantastic this year and it is a great opportunity to get dressed up and go out with friends."
