The Heat is on for Warwick's Big Bash stars

CRICKET: The Brisbane Heat are gearing up for a big weekend of cricket, starting this afternoon.

The WBBL side will play two games against the Melbourne Renegades.

The first will take place at Camberwell Sports Ground from 1pm today. The second is part of a double header at Etihad Stadium, with the BBL Heat and Renegades clashing afterwards.

Warwick will be represented by a star in each side, with Delissa Kimmince and Mark Steketee both looking to keep up their respective sides' good form.

Kimmince has played a leading role for the women's Heat, smashing 87 runs in their first encounter against the Perth Scorchers, and taking 2-17 in the return match at home last week.

Her strong start to the WBBL season should come as no surprise as she played a role in the Southern Stars' T20 matches against England last month.

She took a wicket in each match, and picked up 17 runs in her only appearance with the bat.

Mark Steketee bowled the final over in the men's victory over the Melbourne Stars on Wednesday night.

The Stars needed 24 runs from the final over to claim victory, however Steketee held his nerve, keeping them to just eight runs.

Two wickets fell in the over, including the run out of Marcus Stoinis and Evan Gulbis being caught.
