The heat is on
WITH temperatures remaining in the low thirties for the remainder of the week, locals are told to keep cool, but are still urged to abide by the current water restrictions.
The lowest level of restrictions are in place, allowing three days of allocated outdoor water usage, alternating between odd and even numbered houses.
A spokeswoman for the Southern Downs Regional Council said the restrictions will not be lifted, despite the full water supply.
"Restrictions are still in place, that said, the storages are all full," the spokeswoman said.
"The public needs to conserve water usage as decreases in water storage will cause an increase in restrictions."
Council said there will not be a public warning about the restrictions remaining in place, but it does not mean they are wavered over the summer.
"Council enforces water restrictions as required but without notice," the spokeswoman said.
The council has collated a number of water saving tips for the whole community to follow to reduce their water bill and conserve our natural resource.
Be water wise with these few tips:
- Check your rates and water meter regularly for any inconsistencies which may be caused from a leak.
- Don't flush the toilet unnecessarily.
- Install water-saving shower heads and take shorter showers.
- Only use the dishwasher when you have a full load.
- Aerate your lawn to allow for better infiltration and avoid wasted run-off.
- Water your garden with a hand-held can.
- Check for leaks around pool.
- Repair leakages immediately.
