The horror is coming to Warwick
FRIDAY the 13th.
It’s a date steeped in mystery and superstition, but Jeff Clark is adding a little fun to it.
The highly anticipated 2016 Video Ezy Night Of Horrors is on at the Warwick Showgrounds on Friday, May 13 and it’s going to be a thriller.
“We’ve put a lot of work into it to make sure it’s bigger and better than last year’s event,” Mr Clark said.
“It’s basically a family fun night with some great entertainment, but there’s going to be a few frights in the horror mazes for those who want to be scared.
“We got nine carnival rides of all kinds, from kids merry-go-rounds to really fast ones.
“We’ve got two magician shows, sword-swallowing and fire-breathing, laser skirmish, and a dance show.”
Mr Clarke said the idea came from the Movie World Fright Nights.
“My family and I love them. We go every year and I know, from running the video store, that Warwick has a lot of horror fans, so we thought we’d bring a similar idea here,” he said.
“We held one for Halloween in October last year, but we’ve decided to hold a major event mid-year so as not to clash with the rodeo, which falls on Halloween.
“We’ve got three awesome horror mazes that we build and set up ourselves in the sheds at the showgrounds.
“And let me tell you, those sheds are a lot scarier than the massive lots at Movie World.
“I was in there by myself setting up one night and a possum jumped down onto a bit of tin and scared the hell out of me.”
There will be three themed horror mazes to choose from this year; Abandoned Factory, Cannibal Clowns and Asylum Escape, and visitors can choose between three levels of scaring.
“There’s an extreme-level of scare, then the normal-level where people jump out at you and we’ve a got mild-level for kids and the faint of heart,” Mr Clark said.
“It’s a heap of fun getting a good scare but it’s also a lot of fun being the scarers.
“The team from the Telstra Shop here in town went to a Fright Night last year as a team building exercise and loved it so much they’ve volunteered to be the scarers in one of the mazes for us.
“The cost is $10 per person, or $35 for a family of up to six people, and only $5 for the rides, or you can pay $40 for unlimited rides.
“Last year’s event was a lot smaller and we still had 150 people come through so this year we’d love to see a huge crowd.”
The Video Ezy Night of Horrors is on at the Warwick Showgrounds from 6.30pm to 10.30pm on Friday, May 13.
Don’t miss it, that’d be as silly as going outside to check a strange noise...
