The ideal conditions for this market stall
A NICE breeze flowing around Glengallan Homestead at the weekend caused many market-goers to stop and stare at Bill and Jan Decker's whirligigs and weathervane stall.
For the couple, who travelled from Bethania, near Loganholme, it was their first Glengallan Markets.
Mr Decker makes all the whirligigs and weathervanes from scratch in his home shed.
"It takes four days to make one, but I usually make two or three at the same time," Mr Decker said.
Each whirligig or weathervane has a different story to tell.
Some have come from suggestions or requests from customers, others Mr Decker has fashioned from his imagination.
It started as a hobby after he retired and for the past 20 years he and his wife have travelled around Australia selling their handmade products at markets.
"We have been coming to the Warwick Rodeo Markets for the past eight years and the Easter ones as well," Mrs Decker said.
"But this is our first time at the Glengallan ones.
"We heard about it from some friends and we thought we would give it a go."
Mr Decker said through all his travels across Australia, he has never been to a market where another stall was selling the same product as him.
Both were impressed with the Glengallan Christmas Markets and said they would be back for the autumn markets in March.
