RODEO: One superb eight-seconds ride has won Cooyar rider Jack McArthur the double, average and national title, at the Warwick Rodeo APRA National Finals.

Going into the finals of the bull ride, McArthur was ranked third behind Central Queensland rider Jared Borghero and Brad Thorp from Young in New South Wales.

McArthur scored 87.5 on Thursday night on the Gill Brothers bull Bad Attitude in a round only two riders made time. He won the round which enabled him to overtake Borghero and Thorp in the battle for the APRA bull ride title.

None of the top three rode time in the final three rounds.

In round 1, Rockhampton schoolboy Brady Fielder was second with 72.

Victorian rider Sam Woodall scored 84 to win the bull ride round on Saturday night. None of the 15 national finalists made time in rounds 2 or 4 which left McArthur the winner of the average for highest score for the finals from Woodall and Fielder.

In round 4 action on Sunday, Cameron's Corner and former Gore rider Fred Osman made it three wins from four rounds in the bareback while Jorja Iker from Alton Downs won the breakaway for three wins in four rounds. Both won the average at the finals and the titles.

Osman and rope and tie average winner Brock Eastwell were the top two riders from the Southern Downs. Two of the Eastwell brothers, Mitch and Brock, won a round of the rope and tie with Jeff Miller and his son Kobe second in round 1 of team roping to give the Warwick crowd plenty to cheer about.
