The serious side of a cracking morning tea

THE tea and coffee was flowing and plenty of laughs filled the Warwick Senior Citizens' Centre but, behind it all, there was a serious cause.

The Queensland Cancer Council Warwick branch held its annual Biggest Morning Tea yesterday to raise funds for cancer research and support of cancer patients.

Branch president Jan Byrne said almost everyone would be affected by cancer in some way in their life.

"I'd say most people in this room would either have had cancer or would know someone that has had cancer," Mrs Byrne said.

"It's a great way for people to catch up with old friends as well as raising money.

"Some people may only get to have a catch-up like this once a year.

"We'd also like to thank the senior citizens for lending their hall and Carley Wagner, from the Toowoomba branch, for coming down."
