Firefighters on high alert this weekend
THE sizzling temperatures coupled with strong gusty winds have left the region's firefighters on high alert this weekend.
An extreme fire danger has been issued by the Bureau of Meteorology for the Darling Downs and Granite Belt.
"Strong and gusty winds associated with this surface trough will combine with the already hot and dry conditions to produce severe fire dangers over the southern inland districts of Queensland," a BoM spokesman said.
The Rural Fire Service Queensland advised fires may be unpredictable, uncontrollable and fast-moving.
An RFS spokesman said it was important to ensure a family's bushfire survival plan was up-to-date.
