Colts draw two all against Gatton

THE Warwick Colts drew two-all in their pre-season game against Gatton on Sunday.

The game, which was played in three half-hour periods in hot and humid conditions, was a trial in preparation for the start of fixtures on March 12.

Warwick opened the scoring with a goal off Chris Leach’s head after Robbie Neville deflected the ball in his direction.

Ethan Cussen followed up with a very good finish to put Warwick 2-0 up at the first break.

Gatton then came back and, with a bench full of substitutes against Warwick’s one sub, gradually wore the Warwick team down, scoring a goal in each of the next two playing periods to draw the game 2-all.

It was an excellent game for the Warwick team and enabled coach Peter Osborn to try a number of combinations and formations.

Nick Kemp, Martin Johnson, Fraser Noble and Rob Hammermeister had strong games.

New players Tom Settgast, Luke Dargan and Jeremy Osborn also played well for the Wolves.

All Warwick Colts and senior teams play in the Football Toowoomba competition.
