The Yangan Heavy Horse cancelled for second year running

MICK Bradford's Heavy Horse Day scheduled for this Sunday at Yangan has been cancelled.

Mr Bradford has measured 68mm rain at his property and with more rain forecast, the day had been cancelled.

"It would have been too wet to use the horse and bullock drawn implements on Sunday.

"I had already lost a week with the rain as I get a lot of equipment out of sheds to set up for the day,” he said.

"I had no hope getting the equipment out with the wet ground.”

Each year, the heavy horse day has been held to support RACQ LifeFlight and Mr Bradford said more than $100,000 had been raised for the charity down the years.

"We have had 15 or 16 heavy horse day,” he said.

Last year, everything was in readiness for the Heavy Horse Day but rain on the Saturday evening resulted in the event being cancelled.

He wasn't complaining about the rain.

"Everyone wanted the rain and it was beautiful rain,” he said.

There was even more rain at Killarney with 100mn recorded.
