There is no taking the country out of Del Mitchell

DEL Mitchell has spent her whole life on properties on the Granite Belt and knows exactly how tough life on the land can be.

Raised on her family's property at The Summit Del learnt early the concept of a hard day's work.

Although it was hard, she loved every minute of it.

For the past 46 years Del and her husband, Jim, have owned and run Turners Creek, near Dalveen.

Their main source of income is from their large herd of sheep, which Del does all the stock work for.

They also run a small head of cattle.

From drought to wild dogs and raising six kids, Del is well aware of the problems farmers in the Southern Downs face.

The way Del got through the tough times and learnt to enjoy the good times makes her story truly inspirational.

Pick up a copy of tomorrow's Bush Telegraph, inside the Daily News, to read Del's full story.

You will also find stories from the cattle sale, lamb production workshop, stories about the future of our apple industry and an update on the wild-dog situation in the Southern Downs.
