These Warwick roads will be closed for the next few nights
A NUMBER of Warwick streets will be closed to traffic at night while the Southern Downs Regional Council conducts safety upgrades and road repairs.
The council is constructing speed limiting humps the rounds-abouts at the intersections of Guy and Grafton St, Fitzroy and Guy Sts, and Fitzroy and Palmerin Sts.
There may be some disruption to residents in the area as works continue from October 2 to October 5 between 6pm-2am.
Most of the work is complete and the road crews will spend the next four evenings adding visual aids to the speed limiting humps, including line marking, texturing and colouring.
The works are part of blackspot funding and will also include upgrades to the pedestrian and footpath areas at the new Dungaree Memorial at the entrance to Leslie Park.
Traffic management units will be in place to direct local traffic through the area during the affected times, with access maintained to Rose City Shoppingworld and nearby businesses and homes.
Traffic controllers will be on site to give directions.
However, motorists are advised to avoid the area.
The work is highly weather dependant and the time frames may vary.
In a statement, a council spokesperson apologised for the disruption.
