Thieves take their time

A CLIFTON Foodworks was broken into on Wednesday night, with robbers taking their time to disarm the alarm systems and scour through the store.

Warwick Criminal Investigation Branch officer-in-charge Darren Tamblyn said CCTV footage showed two men, believed to be in their early twenties, inside the store from when they broke in at 10.30pm.

The men escaped with a limited amount of cash after breaking into an ATM.

They took cartons of cigarettes with them before fleeing the shop three hours later, at 1.30am.

Detective Sergeant Tamblyn said an angle grinder, believed to have been stolen during a break and enter at a Toowoomba concreting business earlier in the night, was used in an unsuccessful attempt to open the safe.

"They disabled the alarm monitoring service and then they disabled the audible alarm," Det Sgt Tamblyn said.

Police believe the men were from Toowoomba and were driving a white 1990s model Toyota Landcruiser.

One man was believed to be of Caucasian appearance and the other dark-skinned.

Anyone with information should call Warwick CIB on 4660 4430 or Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
