Three hurt in golf buggy accident on Hamilton Island

THREE people are believed to have been injured, one seriously, after a golf buggy rolled down a cliff on Hamilton Island.

A spokeswoman for the Queensland Ambulance Service said paramedics had flown to the medical centre on Hamilton Island to assess the victims.

She said a male in his 30s had sustained "multiple injuries" but did not have specific details of the injuries.

She said the paramedics were assessing the patients and whether one or all of the injured needed to be transported to the mainland.

The emergency call for assistance was received at 12.30pm.

In March last year, nine people were injured when a golf buggy towing a luggage trailer crashed into a parked golf cart on the Great Northern Highway on the island.
