Three weeks 'til raceway re-opens at Morgan Park

IT is three weekends until the action will start again at Morgan Park Raceway after more than $1.2 million of club money went into resurfacing the track.

One group over the moon about the upgrade is the Motorcycle Sportsmen of Queensland.

President Paul Dawson said his members were excited about coming to Warwick to ride on the new surface.

The motorcycle club has secured another round of the Australian Superbike Championships and, like other years, it is likely the Warwick round will attract one of the best crowds in the whole series.

Polocrosse galore

THERE will be five polocrosse carnivals in the first two months of the season in our region.

Cunningham, Killarney and Warwick are venues for carnivals in April and then Clifton and Killarney have carnivals in May.

The first carnival at Killarney this year is a Gold Coast one in April while the May one will be organised by the club from the foothills of the Great Dividing Range.

Harness boost

THERE will be more races at Albion Park in Brisbane for the many harness racing trainers on the Southern Downs following the addition of two new race series.

The additional series on Tuesday and Friday nights, from March 1, are sponsored by Kevin and Kay Seymour.

There will be attractive prize money for the heats and finals, which should encourage plenty of starters from west of the range.
