Three wins for 18-year-old in women's Pentath-run

RUNNING: Brielle Erbacher travelled from Toowoomba to win three races in the Daily News Pentath-run as part of her training for the Queensland Cross Country Championships at Maleny.

The 18-year-old only competed in three events at the weekend so wasn't in the running for an overall victory.

"I like the concept of the Pentath-run, it is a fun event,” she said.

"I will be back next year.”

There is a chance she could compete in all events but it depends on her program in cross country and athletics.

She is the current U20 national champion in the 3000m steeplechase. She rated her 1500m run in four minutes, 55.5 seconds, as her best of the weekend in Warwick.

Last year, she graduated from Centenary Heights High School in Toowoomba but still trains on the school oval in a squad of 15 trained by her mother Jody Erbacher.

She works as a tradie's assistant for her father Joe Erbacher, work she maintains helps her fitness.

Erbacher is a member of the intraining Running and Triathlon Club which filled five of the six overall placings in the Pentath-run. Overall winner Kerri Hodge won from Margot Manning in an all-intraining finish.

In the men's event, Aidan Hobbs won four events after coming second in the YMCA Half Marathon behind winner Charlie Boyle who ran from Warwick to Yangan in one hour, 15.27 minutes.

Hobbs won overall from Peter Bracken with former Warwick High student Dan Symonds third.

One of the top performers from Warwick was Nathan Rogers who was seventh in both the Sandy Creek Hotel 5km and the Voyage Fitness 1500m. His 1500m time was 4: 46.44 seconds, 16 seconds behind Hobbs.

There was around 2600 nominations for the event.
