Thrilling finish in squash decider

A SERIES of closely-matched contests made for a thrilling Warwick Rose Squash Club grand final last Friday night.

Minor premiers Adidas, led by Wayne Hockings, downed Aden Babington's Dunlop team 4-3 in the hotly-contested grand final.

Squash club president Lucas Gillott said it was a great night of squash.

"It was a very close final," he said. "They were all really close matches."

Player of the finals was awarded to Shannon Stevens who faced off against a strong challenge from Dan Roulston to win their line one match.

Gillott said the Stevens-Roulston match was very tight.

"They were the top two players in their line," he said. "It was a great match to watch."

All the attention is now set on the club championships which start this week and run over two weeks.

The action begins at 5.30pm tomorrow.

The season will take a break for a few weeks after the championships before starting up again after the school holidays.

Adidas: Wayne Hockings, Tony Elliott, Josh Clare, Phil Crighton, Shannon Stevens, Flynn Donaldson, Lourens Wiid.
