Tickets still on sale for sports awards night
LEWIS von Stieglitz has been in Warwick since 2007 and reckons the sporting image of the region has been boosted significantly in that time.
On Monday night, the Warwick Credit Union CEO will present $1000 to the annual Daily News/Warwick Credit Union Senior Sports Star of the Year at the awards night at the Warwick RSL Club.
The Warwick RSL Club Sports Person of the Year will be based on local sports performances and volunteer work and will receive $500 from the Warwick RSL. A presentation will be made to each monthly winner.
"If you compare the facilities now to a few years ago, they are substantially better," he said.
"There are more sports now and the Warwick Redbacks have their own facilities. Facilities at Morgan Park continues to improve.
"Our monthly senior and junior sports star winners have maintained a very high standing down the years.
Supporters of each of the monthly winners planning to attend the annual senior awards dinner on Monday night are asked to buy tickets as soon as possible at the Daily News.
Men of League head Frank Barrett and professional golfer Nikki Garrett are guest speakers.
