Tiger shows glimpses of brilliance in return to action
GOLF: Tiger Woods has made a roller-coaster return to competitive action at the Hero World Challenge in the Bahamas.
The 14-time major winner, playing in his first tournament in 15 months after having two surgeries on his back, made a flying start with four birdies in the opening eight holes to take a share of the lead.
But a poor back nine, including two double-bogeys in his final three holes, sent the former world No.1 back down the leaderboard, finishing with a one-over 73 to sit second last in the 18-man field.
"It felt good to have that adrenaline surging through the system again. It's been a long time,” Woods said.
Fellow American J.B. Holmes was in the lead on eight-under after the first round.
