Tigers set out to win first premiership in a decade in BRL

RUGBY LEAGUE: Tenterfield Tigers will rely heavily on inside backs Geoff Swan snr and Brendan Minns as they aim to win their first premiership for a decade in the BRL grand final this Saturday against the Inglewood Roosters.

Tenterfield has played in three grand finals in the past decade and hope they are on the winner's side of the scoreboard after the 2.30pm game on Saturday.

The Tigers led the competition for part of the season but some losses later in the season put them out of contention for the minor premiership and the chance to host the grand final.

Geoff Swan snr will play five-eighth and his combination with half and captain-coach Brendan Minns will be crucial.

Swan is one of the most experienced players in the league while Minns first played for the Tigers in 2004 and is calm in a crisis.

It doesn't happen in many clubs but Minns fills the roles of club president and captain-coach proving the adage that "you only get as much out of the game as you put into it”.

Minns said Coedie Tandy could be a match winner off the bench.

"He will come on at hooker or lock, Coedie had a great impact off the bench in our semi win against Killarney,” Minns said.

Regular fullback Faron Anderson is struggling with a knee injury and is on the bench.

TIGERS: (1-21) Jacc Pittis-Wilson, Alex McGrady, Adam Clothier, Mal Whiteman, Geoff Swan jnr, Geoff Swan Snr, Brendan Minns, Nathan Dearden, Wayne Brown, Floyd Oxford, Bruce Binge, James Springborg, Jake Adam, Coedie Tandy, Jacob Harding, Andrew Gormley, Faron Anderson, Deon McIntosh, Grant Townes, Denyon Rhodes, Adam McIntosh.
