Tigers stay on top of the Border Rugby League
RUGBY LEAGUE: Tenterfield Tigers have stayed on top of the Border Rugby League points table after scoring a 58-12 win against Stanthorpe at Rugby League Park, Tenterfield, on Saturday.
Hosts Tenterfield held the BRL double header as part of Aub's Day, an annual event in memory of the late Aub Gillespie, a long-time patron and passionate supporter of the Tigers.
The crowd at Tenterfield was the biggest of the year at Rugby League Park. Going into the double header, Tenterfield had a one-point lead over Inglewood with Killarney third and Stanthorpe fourth on the table.
Farran Anderson scored four tries and Malcolm Whiteman two tries to lead the scoring for Tenterfield. Brendan Minns landed seven goals for the winners.
Best players in the game were Minns and Adam Clothier (Tenterfield) and Nicholas Marsh (Stanthorpe). Clothier was the Tenterfield players' player.
Inglewood victory
BRENT Hearne and Ian Thompson scored two tries each in an Inglewood 46-0 win against Killarney.
Hearne landed four goals for a personal tally of 16 points.
Best players in the game were Brent Osborne, Zack Johnstone (Inglewood) and Matthew Cole (Killarney).
Killarney, Stanthorpe and Inglewood each had 16 players for their games while Tenterfield had a full bench.
This Saturday's double header is at Stanthorpe and then the action moves to Killarney.
