Time to stock up for the new school year
BACK-to-school fever is sweeping the Rose City as retailers and families alike prepare for the fast-approaching first day back.
For Hynes Newsagency owner Paul Hynes, the back-to-school rush is the busiest period of the year by far.
"We've been very busy so far," Mr Hynes said.
"I would expect us to process well over 1000 booklist orders this year."
Handing in complete booklists are a popular way of back-to-school shopping, with Hynes Newsagency processing all local booklists as well as a range of textbooks.
"Booklists take the worry out of back-to-school shopping," Mr Hynes said.
Rose City families have been dropping in booklists for weeks, according to Mr Hynes.
"Most people shopped early to avoid the last-minute rush," he said.
"We tend to find families drop in their booklists before they head off on holidays and pick them back up when they return home."
For those families yet to start their back-to-school shopping there's still plenty of time to do it.
Mr Hynes said people still have two weeks to get their booklists done.
"We process booklists whenever they want the order done," he said.
One student excited about her shiny new books and stationery items is St Mary's Primary School student Jewel Schnitzerling.
Jewel, who is starting Year 5 this year, said she loved shopping for books.
"It is good to be organised before going back to school," she said.
