Comment: Vandalism a reminder to watch our town
Comments: TO HAVE your clubhouse vandalised and robbed once is bad enough, but to have it happen five times must be absolutely heartbreaking.
For the Warwick Cowboys five acts of selfish and callous vandalism in the past 18 months have taken their toll.
The Warwick Cowboys are one of the biggest and iconic sporting clubs in our readership, but the size of the club doesn't take away from the financial implications.
The club must now not only come up with thousands of dollars to repair the damage, they also are taking steps to invest in thousands of dollars worth of security measures.
Warwick Cowboys president Mary-Anne Loudon recounted to me the "confronting" and "upsetting" feeling of seeing the sentimental clubhouse in such a state.
No wonder club officials, players and community members have had enough and are fed up.
It's unfortunate in a small town like ours that there are people who will go to great lengths to cause harm to the hard work of our many community organisations.
As a community we need to watch out for suspicious behaviour and report damage and vandalism as soon as we see it happening.
It's vital we look out for one another and stamp out selfish acts of vandalism and destruction before they ruin our town's image.
