Top APRA roper equals record

RODEO: Warra rider Jane Fay has shortened the odds of her winning an Australian Professional Rodeo Association title in Warwick this year after equalling a record at the Alstonville Rodeo.

Fay will go into the Warwick Rodeo Australian Championships on October 22-25 as the leader in breakaway roping standings. She will receive one point for each dollar won during the season as she goes into the four finals rounds as favourite.

At Alstonville, she was timed at 1.8 seconds to win the breakaway roping and joins Comet rider Kym Ash as the holder of the record.

Four riders have been timed at 1.9 seconds in the APRA.

Warwick cowboys Mark Collins and Michael Maher placed first and second in saddle bronc at Alstonville Rodeo.

Jack McArthur, from Cooyar, won the open bull ride and Toowoomba star Owen Lee came first in bareback.
