Top draft at Stanthorpe

CEDAR Grove rider Sue Harrison won the open campdraft at Stanthorpe on the weekend with a score of 170 on her horse Ellie.

In second place, just five points behind, was Allora's Glen Holmes on Shanelle, while Clintonvale's Kevin Ryan on Aussie finished in third with 162 points.

Harrison also claimed fourth on her second horse, Black Betty, with a total of 159.

Three riders finished on a score of 105 securing them joint rights to fifth place they were Warwick's Tanya Bellingham on Lil Klinka, Warwick's Errol Cooper on Levi and Mt Marshall rider Darren Rafton on Felice.

Stanthorpe campdraft committee member Paula Boatfield said the annual event had been a huge success.

"A lot of competitors commented on how well prepared the grounds were and how it was a well organised event."

She said the weekend boasted 150 competitors, 200 horses, 700 head of cattle, 25 sponsors and an organising committee of nine.

"We have a lot of local support, including volunteers and that's made all the difference."
