Top effort by Gremlins in BRL

RUGBY LEAGUE: Stanthorpe travelled to Killarney without nine A-grade players for an expected tough encounter with Killarney.

Stanthorpe jumped away to an early 22-0 lead before Killarney crossed the line.

The game was marred by a serious injury to Stanthorpes Jason Cobon to what appears to be a cracked fibia.

The Gremlins played well enough for the win, however as usual Killarney came back to within four points before Stanthorpe consolidated their position at the top of the table with two late tries.

For Stanthorpe Jason Wilmot and Ben Staley were outstanding with great support from Brendan Perkins in the forwards and Sam Dowie in the backs.

Killarney was best served by Dion Galloway and Matthew Butler with Brett Lambert solid at fullback.

Injury to John Trindall made it tougher for Killarney.

In league tag, both sides scored three tries as Stanthorpe won 16-14.
