Top effort creates top carnival
GIVEN a mere 24 hours notice of a change of venue for the AFL Darling Downs juniors Under 8 to U10 carnival, Karen Clarke and her band of volunteers set about turning a hurdle into a positive at Slade Park on Sunday.
Catering for 10 clubs and an enormous number of supporters, inclement weather and setting up makeshift grounds, Karen and her workers deserve a medal the size of the MCG.
Recently Gerard Walsh wrote of the professionalism of the Redbacks. It is times like these when the cream really rises to the top – kind words and deserved. Thank you.
On Sunday, there were U12 and U14 footballers umpiring games, mothers and fathers helping in any way they could and people never seen before, wanting to dig in and help – even senior players who really needed a rest after their epic game the day before chimed in to be a part of a successful day.
Congratulations again to all involved, it is a great feeling to be a Redback. Why not become a part of it?
On Sunday, at 10am, at Slade Park, the Redbacks will hold its U12 and U14 presentation day.
Anyone, either involved with the club or not, is welcome to come along and enjoy the hospitality of the Redbacks.
A canteen will operate and a junior players versus the dads game will be the highlight of the Father’s Day event.
The U16s will have their presentation night in conjunction with the seniors at the Warwick Golf Clubon September 17.
Tickets are available from Keith Clarke on 0417 746595.
