Top nominations for New Year's Eve rodeo

RODEO: There will be 23 cowboys lining up for the open bullock ride at the New Year's Eve Rodeo at the Warwick Showgrounds.

The event will be the first New Year's Eve Rodeo at the showgrounds and is being put on by the Warwick Show and Rodeo Society in conjunction with 9pm and midnight fireworks by Steele's Bakery.

Society rodeo chairman Terry Keogh said Steele's offered to pay for fireworks.

"The rodeo will start at 6pm and will be finished for the 9pm fireworks," Mr Keogh said.

"There will be entertainment up to and after the midnight fireworks," he said.

As well as the bullock ride, the rodeo will include a saddle bronc ride, station bronc ride, ladies and junior steer rides and children's poddy ride.

There will be junior, juvenile and open barrel races.

Nominations for the bullock ride have closed and will be open until tomorrow for other events.

Most bullocks are being provided by Killarney producer Pat Boyle with support from other donors.

Stuart Grayson will provide the saddle bronc horses for an open event.

Ladies of all ages welcome in the steer ride.
