Top Queensland riders compete at Southern Downs show

SHOWJUMPING at the Stanthorpe show was a hotly contested competition this year, attracting many showjumpers in every class.

Brock Everingham from northern New South Wales took home the first place ribbon in his class.

This class was one of the most popular of the showjumping events, attracting more than 20 contestants.

Some of the top riders in Queensland competed, including Jamie Raymont, who had won first place in the previous year, and Clem Smith.

Out of the more than 20 riders who entered into the showjumping class, only four horses and riders of them had clear rounds and continued onto the jump off second round.

Everington who was riding his horse Blue Nichol, only had only 1/300 of a second separating him from runner-up Emily Patterson riding Libertarian.

The wet weather was welcomed by the show jumpers as the soft surfaces make for softer landings for the horses.

This years show jumping class was sponsored by the Bonfield family alongside Water refrigeration for the $1000 prize money.
