Top showjumping at Warwick Show
SHOWJUMPING: Toowoomba rider Shane Davidson has won the Warwick Show Grand Prix in showjumping when he recorded the fastest double clear round in the 1.35m class.
The grand prix attracted a field of 20.
Helidon rider Gemma Creighton, daughter of Olympian Guy Creighton, was second with Tamworth rider Allan McCusker third.
The Warwick Show showjumping was held over three days and attracted 119 riders from as far away as Tamworth, Nambour and Kilcoy.
Showjumping steward Christine Bradfield said it was impressive to have 119 riders at the same time as the Sydney Royal Show.
"The standard of the competition was high especially the jump offs when two or more riders were equal at the end of competition," Bradfield said.
"The riders all loved the surface at the Warwick Showgrounds.
"Many of the New South Wales riders came this year as they heard how good it was last year.
"After a big storm on Friday night, it showed how good the surface is as we started on time on Saturday morning."
Nikki Burraston won champion horse of the show with Dakota, a 15-year-old gelding.
The Warwick State High School student won the championship after having the most points based on placings over the three days of the show.
The Hugh Mullins Memorial Junior Championships for riders, 18 years and under, was won by Tatum Latimer from Brisbane.
Cameron Moffatt from Pittsworth was second with William Wood, of Armidale, third. Showjumping was held in two rings.
