Top Warwick track earns praise at Darling Downs
ATHLETICS: Organisers and athletes agreed yesterday the move of the Darling Downs 13-19 years regional school athletics to Hamilton Oval, Warwick, was a good move.
Mitchell Von Hoff (Toowoomba High), who won the open 800m and 1500m double, said the hard track reminded him of tartan.
Deng Arok, from Toowoomba Christian Outreach College, was second in the 1500m and was high in praise of the day.
"The track was hard and level,” he said.
Darling Downs regional sports officer Wayne Beeston said the titles would be held at Warwick High for two years.
"The facilities are great for spectators as there is plenty of room and everything is here,” he said.
Killarney student Zac Beckwith was one of the stars, winning the 13 years 100m/200m double.
Field events will be held at Hamilton Oval today.
