Top weekend of circuit racing planned at Morgan Park

MOTOR RACING: A total of 158 drivers will be in Warwick for the third round of the Queensland Motor Racing Championships at Morgan Park Raceway this weekend.

Three Hyundai Excel drivers from South Australia will travel to Warwick to get a feel of the track before the Darling Downs Skin Cancer Clinic 2016 Circuit Hyundai Excel Nationals on September 24-25.

Some drivers have been in Warwick since Wednesday preparing for the meeting.

The Warwick District Sporting Car Club is event organisers.

Club secretary John Torr said Toowoomba driver Bob Power would be competing in a Mygale SJ80A Formula Ford.

"Bob is the father of Indy series champion Will Power who raced in Warwick as a schoolboy,” Torr said.

"Warwick driver Chris Hatfield will be racing his RCRT70 Lola Replica, a powerful sports cars.”

Porsche Carrera Cup and soon to be V8 Supercar driver Matt Campbell will compete in his Datsun returning to where his career begun.

Qualifying will start at 8.30am Saturday with racing from 12.30pm.

Racing will finish at 5pm Saturday and resume at 8.30am Sunday.
