Top year for Texas all rounder

TEXAS State School student Braithen Scott is one of the finalists/monthly winners among an outstanding group of Daily News/Warwick Credit Union Junior Sports Star of the Year winners for last year.

During the year, he represented Darling Downs in five sports and in December headed to his first national competition, the Pacific School Games in Adelaide.

He won the award for best boy at the Darling Downs 10-12 years track and field championships in August after winning the 100m, 200m, long jump and high jump. He won bronze in the 800m, 1500m and shot put.

This year, he represented Darling Downs at the state championships and was second overall in the combined event which includes four disciplines, 100m, 800m, shot put and long jump. He placed fifth overall in high jump with a height of 1.36m.

In cross country, he was third in the 10 years age championships in the 2017 state championships in Brisbane.

He was one of the 12 monthly winners to be honoured at the March 19 awards night at the Hawker Rd Function Centre.
