Tough tactics fail to halt Simmons

BEN Simmons has been put to the test in ruthless fashion but helped his Philadelphia 76ers to a 118-113 win over the Washington Wizards.

The Aussie star was targeted a stunning 12 straight times in the fourth quarter, handing him the NBA single-quarter record for free throw attempts (24).

Simmons ultimately registered 29 free-throw attempts, making just 15 in a career-high 31-point haul.

Asked if he thought teams would continue the strategy, he said, "Not if I'm making them. It's not gonna happen for that much longer - I'm gonna knock them down.”

Coach Brett Brown praised Simmons for "dealing with that type of pressure”.
