Tough win for Warwick footballers

RICKY Sinkins and Josh Robertson scored goals as the Warwick Wolves beat USQ 2-1 in yesterday’s premier grade football at Queens Park.

USQ took a 1-0 lead after Warwick scored an own goal 10 minutes into the game.

Sinkins levelled 10 minutes later before Robertson put the home side in front just before half-time.

Neither side scored in the second half but Warwick had the territorial advantage for 70 per cent of the half.

Brett Sinkins and Johnny Enosa went close to scoring in the second half.

Midfielder Robbie Davey created a lot of opportunities in midfield.

Cameron Davey, Nick Lockley and Dominic Benz worked well together in defence for Warwick.

Coach Gary Dargan said the win was the first against USQ for two years.

In the early game, Warwick beat USQ 6-0 in the ladies game.

Rachael Clarke scored three goals, Rebecca Clarke, Caitlin Harrison and Kaz Taganny one each.

Coach Jon Pearson said Shannon Doyle led the defence well.

USQ only had two shots at goal, one missed and goalie Alice Morrissey saved the other.

Warwick went down 3-2 to Gatton on Friday night in colts football.

his weekend, Warwick plays Willowburn in three grades in Toowoomba.

The Colts game is Friday night and the premier games will be played on Saturday night.
