Office could move to rodeo centre

SOUTHERN Downs regional councillors will today discuss the prospect of the Warwick Tourism and Events office moving to the Australian Rodeo Heritage Centre building on Alice Street.

Warwick Tourism and Events chief executive officer Bev Marston said the board had approved approaching council about the move, which would provide a much better facility than the office currently occupied.

“It was mooted that in the future it may be possible for the information centre to move down there as well,” she said.

Mrs Marston said however that she was in no hurry, and understood that council currently had other pressing tourism issues to deal with.

“I’m quite happy to take some steps back and let council sort out those priorities,” she said.

“I’m quite happy with what Tourism and Events is achieving, we’re kicking along doing what we should be.”

A Southern Downs Regional Council spokeswoman said council would discuss the matter at the general meeting today, but no decision had yet been made.
